Nicki Minaj and Miley Cyrus Beef

After nearly four years beef-free, tensions between Miley Cyrus and Nicki Minaj are on the rise once again. Sparks were reignited on Friday with a particularly revealing episode of Minaj's Beats 1 show Queen Radio, in which the rapper had a few choice words for Cyrus.

Though this is their first altercation since 2015's infamous exchange at the MTV VMAs, the drama dates back much earlier than that. Study up on the history of their ongoing feud below.

Oct. 31, 2012 – Playing dress-up

Cyrus posted this photo to Twitter on Halloween, sporting a yellow wig, matching tats and butt pads to resemble Minaj. She even tagged her in the tweet, captioning it in reference to Minaj's song "Stupid Hoe." In response, Minaj told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show that she planned to be Cyrus for Halloween, though no photo evidence ever surfaced.

June 14, 2013 – "The white Nicki Minaj"

In a 2013 Billboardcover story, Cyrus mentioned Minaj briefly, saying, "A lot of people wanted to try to make me the white Nicki Minaj. That's not what I'm trying to do. I love 'hood' music, but my talent is as a singer." On her pivotal album Bangerz, released in October 2013, Cyrus shared executive-producer status with Mike WiLL Made-It, one of Minaj's frequent collaborators.

Aug. 8, 2013 – In the studio

In a surprising turn of events, Mike WiLL Made-It posted this pic on Instagram of all three of them in the studio together, captioned "Beauty and The Beast." The next month, Minaj told E! News that "there was a song that was a possibility but it didn't work out."

Aug. 10, 2014 – "Anaconda" Drama

Cyrus put her own spin on Minaj's scandalous cover art for her "Anaconda" single, photoshopping her face onto Minaj's body and even tweaking the skin color to make it look more "natural." Minaj reposted the photo, commenting, "Give me one good reason why Miley made this her twitter avi." Later, Cyrus made yet another "Anaconda" meme — this time as Hannah Montana — which Minaj regrammed as well, with a decidedly less nice caption: "No chill ZONE!!!!"

Aug. 19, 2014 – "Anaconda" crushes "Wrecking Ball"

Things started heating up once Minaj's video for "Anaconda" beat out Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" for the most views in 24 hours on YouTube. However, at the VMAs a few days later, Cyrus kept it cordial by saying, "I can bring that body, I can bring that wrecking ball, but I can't bring that ass."

Feb. 8, 2015 – All good at the Grammys

The two sat next to each other at the 2015 Grammy Awards and even introduced Madonna together — no hard feelings to be found.

July 21, 2015 – "Bad Blood"

Though this incident doesn't directly involve Cyrus, it is important to note. When Minaj's "Anaconda" didn't get nominated for video of the year at the 2015 VMAs, she took to Twitter, prompting discussion about racial representation and body positivity in regards to the awards. Most notably, Minaj tweeted: "When the 'other' girls drop a video that breaks records and impacts culture they get that nomination" and "If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year." Taylor Swift, whose "Bad Blood" video was nominated for video of the year, took this personally and replied with "@NICKIMINAJ I've done nothing but love & support you. It's unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot."

Aug. 27, 2015 – Cyrus responds

When asked about the video of the year debate in aNew York Timesinterview, Cyrus — that year's host — did not hold back. She called Minaj "not too kind" and implied that she was just jealous about not being nominated.

Aug. 30, 2015 – The main event

This is where the situation turned incredibly public. After winning the VMA for best hip-hop video, Minaj turned to Cyrus and infamously said, "Back to this bitch that had a lot to say about me the other day in the press; Miley, what's good?" Cyrus fired back with: "Nicki, congratu-fucking-lations."

May 21, 2017 – Billboard Music Awards

Nearly two years later, Cyrus debuted her new sound at the Billboard Music Awards with an emotional performance of "Malibu." In the audience, Minaj was spotted smiling and clapping for the singer, though some believed it to be a sarcastic gesture. A social-media debate ensued among fans.

July 4, 2018 – A brief reconciliation

On the Fourth of July last year, Cyrus uploaded a now-deleted video of her dancing to Minaj's new single "Chun-Li." Minaj reposted the clip, to which Cyrus commented "What's Good," complete with a heart-eyed cat emoji. The casual reference to their fight at the VMAs made it seem as though their feud had finally been resolved.

May 31, 2019 – "Cattitude"

But all was not well for long. With the release of Cyrus' new EPShe Is Coming came another diss to Minaj. On the track "Cattitude," Cyrus quips, "I love you Nicki, but I listen to Cardi." Given that Minaj's beef with Cardi B has resulted in actual violence, it makes sense that this would not sit well with her.

June 21, 2019 – Perdue chickens

On the latest installment of herQueen Radioshow, Minaj addressed the lyric by reopening old wounds and comparing Cyrus to raw meat. "A Perdue chicken can never talk shit about queens," Minaj said. "That's what [Cyrus] did… In the first place, she disrespected me in a magazine article for no reason. I had just seen her after she sucked Mike WiLL's dick in the studio." Though that last part has not been confirmed, it definitely adds fuel to the fire. Cyrus has yet to respond to Minaj's comments, making it uncertain as to whether their feud has been truly reignited — or if it will simply fizzle out.
